POP streamlines the sorting process at bpost

Having the right tailor-made technical equipment is key to improving workplace ergonomics and boosting employee productivity at Belgium’s largest postal service, bpost. That’s where POP comes in!

La nouvelle station de travail plus efficace et ergonomique

If you thought that POP only developed POS material, then prepare to be surprised. In 2020, we produced some 800 of the famous red letterboxes. And that’s not our only skill when it comes to metalworking!

For proof, look no further than our recent project with bpost. When we found out that the postal operator wanted to develop new workstations for its sorting centres and distribution offices, we invited them to visit the POP Metal workshops. Their interest was piqued, so the company entrusted us with the project.

An unusual project for POP

bpost challenged POP to design equipment that would satisfy certain conditions:

  1. Be as easy for employees to use as possible
  2. Streamline work
  3. Improve the efficiency and therefore the speed of the sorting process

“This was an unusual project for our teams, but it definitely got them thinking outside the box,” says Dominique Rolland, Account Manager at POP, who has been in charge of all projects for bpost for 13 years. “We worked with bpost engineers and together came up with original technical solutions.” The team ended up creating new workstations for the sorting centre at Brucargo and sorting cabinets comprising 18 bins for the mail distribution offices.

bpost 100% satisfied

“Each of these projects was completed in just three to four months and the end result completely lived up to our expectations,” says Jan Tambeur from bpost. “POP understood our needs in terms of workplace ergonomics and provided the solutions we were looking for to optimise our equipment. Their one-stop-shop approach was another positive aspect of this teamwork. POP manages everything from A to Z and Dominique was our single point of contact. This saved us a lot of precious time.”

In addition to the above-mentioned projects involving permanent furniture, POP also used its metalworking expertise to build metal supports for printers and hundreds of trailer hitches for bpost’s electric bicycles. Because just like POP, an environmentally aware and responsible approach is one of the key drivers of growth and innovation at bpost.
